Events this Spring
May Month of Fitness
While technically, this event takes place in the spring, we didn’t want to miss the opportunity to let you know that it is currently the Month of Fitness in Wake Forest! Hosted by the Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources (PRCR) Department, the May Month of Fitness provides a free outdoor fitness series each week in May. This free event is open to area residents of all ages; each class will be offered on its respective night from 6:30–7:30 pm at the E. Carroll Joyner Park Amphitheater. From dance-based workouts to yoga and boot camp, you’re sure to find a fitness class for each member of your family.
Things to Do in Wake Forest this Summer
Family Movie Nights
The PRCR is continuing the family fun all summer long by providing a family movie night, held on one Saturday evening each month this summer. The first screening is set for Saturday, May 21, in Joyner Park at 8:30 pm. Arrive early to secure your spot and enjoy movie-related pre-show activities beginning at 7:15 pm. These events are free and open to the public, but smoking, alcohol, and unleashed pets are prohibited.
Juneteenth Celebration
Commemorate the historic ending of US slavery by attending the 2022 Juneteenth Celebration held on Saturday, June 18. The event will begin with a Freedom Walk that begins and ends at The Dubois Center, 518 N. Franklin St. After the walk, enjoy live music, food, and activities, and discuss this important historical event.
Friday Night on White
If you haven’t attended a Friday Night on White event, add it to your calendar! This fun concert series held on South White Street in downtown Wake Forest features a new band each month as well as food vendors and other fun festivities. Fourth of July Celebration
One of the summer’s biggest events, Wake Forest’s Fourth of July Celebration, has to be broken into two days! Sunday, July 3, kicks off the celebration with a fireworks spectacular, and on the Fourth, the whole family can enjoy a children’s parade and an Arts in the Park event. The best part? Concerts in the Park
Wrap up the summer by attending one or both of the free concerts at Joyner Park in September. Enjoy food and refreshments for purchase, or pack a picnic and enjoy live music starting at 5 pm on both September 4 and September 11.
